Skulpt is Not a Wearable but…

SKulpt MQ Measure muscle quality? Local fat percentages? What’s not to like! Skulpt Aim is a handheld electronic device that will measure the muscle quality and fat percentage  in 12 muscle groups.  The body fat measuring capabilities sound awesome but I’d really like to know a bit more about what muscle quality is actually measuring before I plonk down my hard earned.

Squat, Squat and More Squat.

Some many articles on squatting, some good, some …, well not so good. The most important part of the squat is a stable spine. And by stable we mean it doesn’t move at all! Yahoo Health has the Goblet Squat as one of the best 7 strength exercises that you’ve never tried (me? disappointed because I think I’ve tried them all). Problem is the video from Scott Herman Fitness shows the dreaded ‘butt wink’ at the bottom of his Goblet Squat.  And although Scott tells us in his video not to flex the spine that’s exactly what he’s doing at the bottom of his squat. Work on your hip flexibility Scott. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MeIiIdhvXT4 So whatever form of squat you do the spine should not flex, extend or wobble side to side, period. No stable spine, no squat. Or at the very least only squat through the stable range.

Fish Oil

Yes, it’s still good for you although two top nutritionists recommend eating wild caught cold water fish like salmon, sardines, herring or albacore tuna. They preferred concentrated molecularly distilled and purified fish oil and suggested women also take some flax seed oil. Buying smaller bottles and storing in the fridge is supposed to be better too. From Equinox.com
